I have been reading Ecclesiates. It talks about the meaning of life. A very gloomy chapter.
Note: There are going to be gloomy posts for the past days. So do bear with me.
The first chapter states:
Utterly Meaningless. Everything is Meaningless. What does man gain from all his labour at which he toils under the sun?
( In this world on any day at any given time, people are either studying or working and for? What do they gain? Knowledge , Money, What? A promotion, Status, what?)
Generations come and generations go, but the earth remain forever. ( You get the post as Managing Director and earn a pay of 100k per month, You get your PHD, You get an Olympic medal, You get this, you get that and blah blah blah. Guess what, we are all going to die. Your post is not going to the grave with you, your degree is not going to the grave with you, your Olympic medal is not going to the grave(oh probably u can bury it with you) and blah blah blah. Guess what the world is still revolving. Nothing changes. The sun still rises and the sun still sets.)
I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless a chasing after the wind. ( The same comments as i said above, just a chasing of the winds. - meaningless)
The author is actually a very wise guy yet this is what he had to say - Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too , is a chasing after the wind. For much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.
Thus i shall end the first part of the many gloomy posts.
